this small tree is splitting at the crotch of a couple limbs. how should I trim? thanks
If the crotch angle is less than 35 degrees, it is best to remove the limb anyway. If the split is just a crack, it should heal on its own. If the trunk is damaged, you may want to get the opinion of an arborist or your local extension agent, who can tell you if the tree should be removed.

the blossoms stopped opening & the leaves are green but sparingly small. Under the bark is green. Is the tree still OK?
Yes, it sounds like it is OK. Many early blooming trees can be nipped by a frost or freeze and lose their blossoms. If there was tissue damage, you will notice dieback in lateral branches. Go ahead and prune those out as you see them, but never take off more than 1/3 of a tree's branches at one time.
Even with some dieback, your tree will likely return to its former glory.

I planted an Eastern rebud last year. It has shown growth but the leaf edge, especially the point of the heart shape, has gone rusty
There are a number of fungal diseases that redbuds are susceptible to, most are not serious. Be sure to clean up any fallen leaves and destroy them to prevent reinfection the next year.
Consult your local extension agent who can help diagnose the specific disease.

leaves of Redbud tree getting brown specks of various size, then whole leaf turns yellow. I am watering every other day as it is less than year old. Is this heat problem? or something stinging the leaf?
This is a case of drastic overwatering, which has led to an infection.
After the first month, watering should cease. The only time extra water should be given will be during times of drought. The soil needs to dry out, very thoroughly, down to about 3 or 4 inches before the tree needs extra water.
From here, you will need a fungicide. This article will help:

We live directly off Lake Huron and the NE winds come long and strong. I lost one Redbud last year to the wind and I want prevent the loss of this one.
It is best to prune these during dormancy or right after flower set. Now would not be a good time to do so.

Have 30 plus foot Judas tree which is multi stemmed and would like to move it or coppice it, if it will grow back. Many Thanks Nick
Since they are known for their short lifespan, hard pruning is not recommended. They are very susceptible to disease, and pruning will elevate this risk, drastically.
