Q.Can I trim my 3.5′ Eastern Redbud at this time without damaging the tree? It’s way too top heavy!

We live directly off Lake Huron and the NE winds come long and strong. I lost one Redbud last year to the wind and I want prevent the loss of this one.

It is best to prune these during dormancy or right after flower set. Now would not be a good time to do so.
