How far does the zoysia travel in a year?
There would be many factors that can effect the growth rate, but it does grow rather quickly.
I live in on the Westchester/Putnam county bourder in New York. To be honest, I cut my own grass and hate that I have to spend 2-3 hours a week just cutting it, not to mention if I skip a week it takes twice as long. I have known about Zoysia Grass for many years and would love to plant it; however, I am not sure if it would do well here. Can anyone tell me if you know if you know how it would do? I was thinking of getting a few plugs and putting them over my septic tank feild and seeing how it goes but I know once you plant it, going back is not an option. Any thoughts?
It will grow, and grow well, where you are, but the reason it is not normally grown in cooler climates is because it goes dormant in the fall and winter and turns hay brown and people don't like the look of it. If you are ok with this behavior, then zoysia would be a good fit for you.
The existing fescue grass did not survive the dog's urine.
Zoysia is considered more resistant to damage from dog urine and feces.

I planted Palasades Zoysia plugs a week ago. I have watered them moderately each day but the plugs have turned brown. The plugs have attached themselves to the soil. Will the plugs produce new leaves/stems of grass? Should I apply a 13-13-13 fertilizer?
Watering is vey important with your new grass.
Do not apply fertilizer at this time. Here is an article that you may find helpful: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/lawn-care/specific/zoysia/planting-zoysia-plugs.htm

Why is my Jamur zoysia pretty green and thick in some areas and thin and yellow colored under oak trees? Near the street and outer edges, sod looks great but in a wide circle around 25 year old oak trees, the sod is yellowing and thin - can see dirt. The trees have vinca ground cover in a circle extending about 10 feet out from the tree trunk. The sod that is next to ground cover up to house looks bad. Sod was planted in spring of 2014 and was lush and green until this June when it started looking thin and yellow.
The yellowing and thinning of your lawn is likely to the invasive Vinca roots.
The Vinca may be taking up the water and soil from the Zoysia.
You can try to add a bit of water to the stressed lawn.
You may have to choose a less invasive ground cover for under your Oak Tree.

We have nice zoysia jamur in front and back. In the front, a full half section does not grow lush and green as the section next to it. There is a line that divides the low growing grass from the tall grass. It is on an incline and may be a bit more packed. Should I aerate the bad part? My backyard is fully lush. I am going to put a small garden in the grass (6 ft. diameter). Can I lift the existing sod, cut into small pieces and somehow plug sections of the bad growing section of the front? I imagine I might then have plugs stuck in still low growing grass. I could send a photo or would like to speak to someone. The front yard is so beautiful except for this one section that is immediately next to a good section. There is no physical divider. The good lush immediately changes to the no/slow growing section.
I would start with determining if you have a build up of thatch.

It may be that you have a issue with Brown Patch.

Will zoysia grass choke out wild strawberries?
Well growing Zoysia may slow the Wild Strawberries but likely would not choke them out.
