My Empire Zoysia grass/lawn has grubs or fungus. There are brown spots (grass looks dead) on my lawn. These areas can be very easily pulled up like a carpet.
I would recommend digging up a small section of your lawn and confirming the presence of grubs. More information on how to do this and information on grub control can be found here:

If it's not grubs, it could be a zoysia disease such as brown patch, leaf spot or rust, all of which are explained in the following article:

Does zoysia grass spread from mowing or dethatching? The University of IA. horticulture person says it does not.
No, it does not. Zoysia grass spreads through underground rhizomatous runners.
We just had Palasides zoysia sod laid in our yard. We have been watering regular and have noticed some black spots, black powder like. What is this and how do we treat? We have not fertilized any of the sod at this point.
This is sooty mold and it is a fungus. Here is more information: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/disease/how-to-get-rid-of-sooty-mold.htm
Which fertilizer should be applied to zoysia grass and when?

My lawn (zoysia grass) has brown patches and it seem to be dying; I had this grass planted because it was to be stronger than the St. Augustine grass, but now I am having the same problem I had before. Please advise.
The brown patches are likely caused by a fungus. Here is information on a few common ones:

I live in the high desert north of Los Angeles where the summer daytime temperatures exceed 100 degrees. I have a well established zoysia lawn. Now that we have sever water restrictions, how well will zoysia survive the summer with limited watering and would it survive without any watering?
Though is is established and is drought tolerant, it will need water to survive.
Best of luck.

The man who mows my lawn recently put weed killer on my zoysia grass and said it would not kill it. Unfortunately, that is not the case. The lawn is turning brown and seems to be dying. Is there anything I can do to reverse this or get my lawn to turn green again? I am very disappointed. I usually never put chemicals on my lawn but it had gotten very weedy and I allowed him to do it. My lawn looks the worse it has ever looked. Any help you can give me would be appreciated. Thanks for your help.
Unfortunately, there's little you can do now to save it. However, you could try flushing the lawn with water. While it may be too late, it could in the very least dilute the chemicals and make them less toxic.
