n mowers. Will these trees die? What can I do to stop the mower damage?. Telling them to stop will not help.they have used string trimmers on my small trees and severely damaged the bark.
It definitely could send the trees into a decline. Here's an article that will tell you what our experts say about this:

I think I am going to love site awsome.
I do gardening for a non-profit organization. They asked me what kind of tree a particular one was as it is reaching the top of a 2 story house now and needs some trimming. Can you tell me what it is?
It looks like one of three species of Oak. I'm thinking Quercus rubra, Quercus castaneifolia, or most likely, Quercus cerris. They are closely related, and will all have similar care. Here is an article that will show you several different types of Oak trees:

hello.... I have found two acorns and hope to plant them and get them to grow. But no idea where to start to make the best of it. Thanks.
If you can collect more acorns, you'll have a better chance at germination. Here is how:

Washington DC City cut down a huge red oak tree, and some acorns have sprouted, and I have few saplings in a pot. It is getting cold, and leaves are turning brown. How can I take care of these baby trees during winter? Keep them in a pot and water them? How much sun do they need? And when should I plant them outside? Thank you so much. A guestimate of germination of the mother tree is 1631.
I suggest overwintering them in the garage and keep them from freezing. Lightly water just enough to get them through the winter. Too much water will cause root rot.

Hello, I was wondering when can I remove the 4' chicken wire cages I have around 3 year old 6' - 7' tall red oaks? there is a good population of deer and rabbits in the area but the cages need replaced and was wondering if they were still necessary and what good options there might be for replacements. Thanks
The protection is more for newly planted and young trees. Since yours are established, you can see how it goes without the cages. If you start to see damage, you may want to reinvest in fencing or caging.
