Due to harsh winter I did up roots and store until Spring. I may try to take cutting at that time. But must start early as I spend most of Winter in Florida. Would it be OK to take roots to Florida to try and get cuttings?
You can try harvesting and germinating the seeds!

The more reliable method will be by division, however:

I live in Metropolitan Perth WA. What is the best time to plant dahlia bulbs into containers. Cheers Bas
Is this for winter storage? Wait until the foliage has turned yellow before digging them up. Here is how to store them:

If it is for spring planting, wait till all chance of frost has passed to move the container outside.

Hi I am getting the leaves of my dahlias eaten by something (nothing else in the garden) any ideas what?
It looks a lot like damage from night feeding pests, such as slugs, snails, and cutworms. Diatomaceous earth can reduce snails and slugs, but squishing the cutworms may be necessary.

We have have dwarf dahlias growing in pots. They were growing nicely until the heat wave hit. It's hard to tell when we will get some cooling weather. If and when the weather cools, will the tubers send up new shoots for next season? By the way, we live in USDA Zone 10.
Hot weather will stop blooming. Keep them watered when the weather is hot and it is not raining. They should bloom again when the weather cools.
