Certified ExpertA.These need direct sun, all day. Keep in mind that they are bog plants, and will require that water dish to have water in it at all times. Make sure to have fungicides or peroxide on hand. The environment that these require make them susceptible to diseases.
In the winter, give them a dormancy, outdoors. They are native to our US zone 7 and 8, so they need the cold to go dormant. At this time, you can keep the soil wet without the extra water. Just, NEVER, let the soil dry out at all. There is a lot more to know about them, however. They are nowhere near easy to grow. Here are some articles that will help:

August 31, 2021Q.Care Of Venus Fly Trap
I've just bought two little Venus fly traps. I was going to repot them, as I think their store pots are too small. Is this right? Which soil is best? Also should I repot the moss with them as well? Thank you

Certified ExpertA.I don't think that they look overcrowded, at all! This is how they grow in nature. I would keep the pot inside of a bowl that is filled with fresh water every few days. They are bog plants, and need to be in a bog setting. Because of this, it is important to keep the water fresh, due to sulfur reducing bacteria being a problem with these plants.
When you go to repot, Do so with care. Use a mix of Sphagnum and sand, or perlite. NEVER use potting soil, and NEVER feed the soil-less mix with fertilizer. This is a death sentence. If they do not have access to insects, then spray the trap portion with a 1/4 strength orchid fertilizer.

Brgy. BuaBua, Eastern Samar (tropics)Q.My Venus Flytrap Won’t Germinate
I watered it everyday with clean distilled water, it’s been two months and it just wont sprout. Though i did get too excited and forgot to boil the moss. Is that why?

Certified ExpertA.Normally, the seeds germinate very quickly. You may have gotten dead seeds that were not stored properly. They must remain moist, consistently.
I do not boil my moss. I do soak it, but I have not found the need to boil it. It will work just fine the way it is.

The plant is still in its original pot and soil from the store. It's watered every 3-4 days. It does put out new traps but when eating houseflies the traps go black or reopen prematurely with the fly still intact.

Certified ExpertA.They have some specialized care needs. The soil should be moist but not wet. It needs at least 60 percent humidity, and avoid wetting the leaves when you water. Watering twice a week should be enough water, it might be too much. Make sure the soil isn't saturated. Also, use bottled water instead of tap.
The article below suggests growing them in a terrarium. That would provide the humidity and the moist soil. They need help getting food when indoors. Here is more:

7aQ.Venus Fly Trap
My Venus fly trap plant is approx 5 years old. Over the past 2 years it's gotten tremendously smaller(you can't really see its size from the photo). The traps are quite tiny and I was wondering if it will have larger traps later in the year and grow to a normal size.

These plants will require a dormancy period of about 2 or 3 months. As close to 8 weeks as you can. This means reducing water without letting it dry, reducing light, and reducing temperatures slightly.
Another issue is overstimulating the traps. Doing so without reward expends precious energy, as they is how they gather nutrients. The roots are for anchoring, predominantly.
This is usually grown as a novelty and not maintained, since most aren't aware of the need to go dormant. Doing this, along with the information in the article will help it start to grow again.
