Two of my Rose of Sharon trees did not produce a lot of leaves or any flowers. The leaves that they did produce look very healthy, but it didn't cover the whole tree. I had great years with these trees except for this year. I'm hoping next year will be better.
With the changes in our weather patterns we are getting lots of questions about unusual behavior in plants and trees. However, your plant may just need some phosphorus. Here's an article that will help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/shrubs/rose-of-sharon/rose-of-sharon-not-blooming.htm
The leaves are drooping, yellowing, and dropping. I'm worried the plant is to die! - Bought 1 month ago from Lowes - Repotted it and trimmed off 1/3 of the little branches - It lives on our patio and gets 4-6 hours of sunlight per day - I water it whenever the soil dries up more than 2" below the surface.
It sounds like you are taking good care of it. The dropping leaves could be transplant shock. If so, keeping it well watered will help it recover. Also, growing it in a container will require more water, so it just may need more watering.
Examine the leaves closely for any pests or signs of disease, such as leaf spots. These articles should help:

That will give it a better start! Doing so will extend its growing season, which will ensure a successful transplant in Spring. You may need a small horticultural light on it for about 12 to 16 hours per day. This will give it plenty of light to stay happy indoors. Misting, occasionally, will help.

The buds on my rose of Sharon won't seem to open, the little black ants are eating them. I didn't notice anything on the leaves. My mom thought at first they were pollinating the flowers and I noticed they were eating away at the unopened buds. I just planted this twig of the rose of Sharon last year and now it finally has its first buds. I don't want the ants killing it.
It may be that you have aphids, which will attract ants with their excretions. Here's an article that should help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/shrubs/rose-of-sharon/rose-of-sharon-problems.htm
I'm adding another link about ants and aphids that will help you understand how to deal with them:

I don't think sending an image is necessary

I have some Rose of Sharon that were given to me by my dad years ago. He's gone now and I want to move a few of them from our main home to our lake home. What is the best way to do this? The lake home is 2 1/2 hours away.
There are two ways of going about this. You can attempt to move the shrub, or you can take a cutting of the shrub. This cutting will be the exact same thing, but smaller, until the shrub grows back to full size.
Here are some articles that will help you with both tasks:

Early Spring do I trim off seeds pods on tree?
You can, or you can leave them. Either way will not harm the shrub.
