I purchased two Orchids this summer and they bloomed beautifully. Now the blooms are gone. I need to know: 1. Do I cut the stem or leave it? Have read that sometimes the old stem will rebloom. 2.When do I fertilize the orchids? 3. Do I leave the plants in the same pot that they came in? 4/ What fertilizer do I use for them. Is there a special time to "force their blooms" in the spring with fertilizer? If so, when and how much. As you can see from my questions, I don't know much about orchids, but lov e them and want to be able to continue to grow them with blooms. Thanks so much for your help.
I've always read to leave the stems. You can leave it in the pots if it doesn't seem like it has overgrown the container. Here are some articles that will answer your care questions:

I have 2 Orchid plants - 1 Dendrobium which has just started to flower and 1 Phalaenorsis Hoop Orchid which has been in flower since April this year. In 2 weeks time I will be on holiday for 1 month. How do I water these while I'm away? Have not been away for this length of time before.
For that length of time, it is best to have someone come in and water for you. Be sure to leave explicit instructions.
se of 70 degree water? Which is correct? The Orchid grower or the information you provided? I tend to agree with your recommendation. Thank you in advance for your response. Danny
This method has been well studied and seems to pose no risk, whatsoever. They will perform the same, either way.

Hello there, I am a 1st time Orchid owner. My Husband bought me one yesterday. Its a lilac Mystic Orchid also known as a Phalaenopsis. It came already potted in mulch, along with plant food and attached to a bent thin pole. ITS BEAUTIFUL! I ordered a LED full spectrum grow light that has a height adjustments up too 26 inches. It has a few brightness intensity levels 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%. I don't know which brightness level to put it on for the orchid to get just the right amount of indirect bright light. I also don't know what height to adjust the LED grow light from the top of the Orchid. Can you help me?
Your orchid is a low-light orchid so I would start at the 25% level. It may get enough light in an east or west window. These articles should help:
