My 1st year (planted June 2018) dwarf mock orange did not bloom this year but has nearly tripled in size. It has a couple tall branches that make conformation a bit unsightly, can I prune them down or do I risk affecting blossoms next year? Hopefully year 2 it will have some blossoms! I know it is setting its root system with first couple years and don’t want to do anything to prevent it from flourishing.
I had a regular size mock orange and I thought it would never bloom. Once it started it bloomed reliably each year.

I HAVE THE ABOVE SHRUB & IT IS ABOUT 10 FEET TALL & VERY LEGGY & ONLY FLOWERS ON THE ENDS OF BRANCHES, IT REALLY NEEDS CUTTING DOWN TO GROUND LEVEL, IF I DO THIS WILL IT EVENTUALLY GROW & FLOWER AGAIN.
You can cut the whole thing down to about 6 to 12 inches for a rejuvenation pruning. It probably will skip a season of bloom, but return better than ever.

My Mock Orange is at least 30 years old. It is still producing lovely blossom each spring but it it is about 12 foot high and the lower branches are bare and scraggy. My good lady wife wants to tidy it up so the question is how severe a cut back will it stand without killing it?
They can be hard pruned! This is common to rejuvenate an old shrub. Here is an article that will help:

It's in a very sunny area with good drainage, but it always looks like it's dying. A lot of dead branches and rarely blooms, if at all. Not sure whether to give up on it or keep it going. I have had for several years now. My family had one and I always loved the blossoms.

About 3 weeks I got my thumb stuck when I brushed against a mock orange bush. It is infected and tender after a week of antibiotics and 4X a day warm compress soaks. They want me to see a hand surgeon. Is there anything else I can do to help?
Those questions are best answered by your medical team. I didn't find any notations of toxicity in mock orange.

My small healthy mock orange was goin good along nicely when all of a sudden the leaves on several of the branches withered died and go crunchy. It seems to be happening one branch at a time with no warning, like wilting. I was told it was a fungus and to spray it with neem. That has not stopped the branches from turning.
Keep pruning out the dead wood; maybe you can stop its spread. This article should help narrow the disease:
