Q.First year dwarf mock orange did not bloom

Zone Fort Wayne, Indiana - zone 5 | Anonymous added on August 11, 2020 | Answered

My 1st year (planted June 2018) dwarf mock orange did not bloom this year but has nearly tripled in size. It has a couple tall branches that make conformation a bit unsightly, can I prune them down or do I risk affecting blossoms next year? Hopefully year 2 it will have some blossoms! I know it is setting its root system with first couple years and don’t want to do anything to prevent it from flourishing.

I had a regular size mock orange and I thought it would never bloom. Once it started it bloomed reliably each year.
