How much do they grow each year?
Hardy kiwis are very vigorous and can grow up to 20 feet per year, so they need to be pruned regularly. The Chinese kiwi is vigorous as well but doesn't grow quite as fast.
my kiwi plant, mature female plant 10 year old, did not come back in spring all of a sudden. the branches are dry. i cannot see any obvious reasons... what could it be? Is it dead? have I lost it? should I cut it down completely and see? Please help! I love the plant!
I'm not sure of your growing zone, but it may have had cold damage.
Try pruning back the plant to see if the roots survived and can start to grow back.
Sometimes the reason a plant dies can't be explained.
Try to look at as an opportunity, sometimes that helps me!

I have one male kiwi plant and one female kiwi plant. they are maybe four years old and doing very well. My question is this ratio bit. Am I actually supposed to have eight female plants to one male plant to get fruit? the info is confusing. It always says 8 to 1, but what does that really mean? thank you! Donna
You do need at least one male plant for every 8 female plants. If you have a male and a female, this is should be sufficient.
It can take 5 to 9 years for a Kiwi Vine to produce fruit.

I have a kiwi plant and this year it has lots of flowers but the last few days the flowers are falling of the plant. I live on the east coast of Ireland. The plant is on a south facing wall.
Most Kiwi are either male or female. Female vines need a male vine for successful pollination and fruiting.

Just learned kiwi has male/female and need to cross pollinate, I bought a kiwi plant many years ago and just noticed there are fruit on the vines this year. But I only had one plant, assuming this is female, will the fruit be edible? Thank you
It's possible that another Kiwi is planted nearby.
The other possibility is that you have one of the only self fruiting hardy Kiwi varieties, Issai.
Your fruit is absolutely edible!

Would the use of worm liquid castings in a kiwi orchard bring on early flowering? When would you advise using the worm castings liquid which months?
