Fig tree rust? Overwatering? What are the spots on my fig tree? It’s in a container. Organic lobster soil compost is the soil. What could be the issue?
Definitely a fungal infection, and usually caused by overwatering. Especially in container, it is important to let the top two inches of soil dry out completely before you water again. It is also very important to have proper drainage holes in the container.
You may be able to correct the issue with wettable sulfur and dolomitic lime
This will not correct the burning caused by planting directly into compost, though. This is meant as an amendment to garden, or potting soil. Using alone would not be advised. I would recommend mixing 1/3 of that mix into a potting mix, and replant into that.

My fig trees looked healthy green and gorgeous in the pots. They sat for about 3 weeks that way before I got them planted in the ground with cow manure compost mixed in. They immediately turned yellow and lost most of their leaves. What happened? What should I do?
Composted cow manure can very strong if you use too much. especially a young tree. I would, either, repot using fresh soil and well composted, but less materials, or planting in ground with some compost, but using only a small amount until it is established.
Usually, in container, you will have a problem with pH. This can be corrected using dolomitic lime. Just make sure that when you add compost, you only add a little until the tree is mature enough to handle such nutrients.
I have a fig tree in my back yard close to the beach. It had a few figs the first time than had no more. What is wrong?
If this has been recently planted, or is a young tree, then this is normal. It can take several years before it will bear a significant crop.
Alternatively, there may be a deficiency, or a lack of pollination, if you do not have any of the wasps that are required for pollination.

I have a tree stump that has only three shoots about 4 feet high. They have no limbs or leaves until about three feet off the ground and they have stopped growing. I have found one small fig on one of the shoots. My neighbor says that they are only shoots and will produce no figs. He says dig them up and plant a new tree. What do you say?
I say that if you concentrate on one of the branches, then in several years, it can bear fruit. If you do not wish to wait this long, then purchasing a new tree will be the best option.
