Usually, they will leaf out first. Sometimes, unripened fruit will remain on the tree until next season, but these will not be worth consuming. It would be best to pluck these off to let the new fruit start to form.

What size container, and how long has it been in there? Do you fertilize regularly? A photo will help me to better help you.

I would recommend to put dolomitic lime, and wettable sulfur on top of the soil. This will keep the pH balanced, and keep any infections at bay. I would fertilize with a granular all purpose every few month. This will prevent many issues before they start, which is often more frequent in container.

What types of products do you recommend? What happens if I don’t treat my tree with what you recommended?

Hard to give you a time, except when it warms enough to break it's dormancy.

It was certainly a strange long winter!

I'm sorry we can't identify the variety of your Fig Tree. A single fig variety can have a couple of different leaf patterns. The leaves can change to the shapes found in more mature trees as the tree gets older. It's easier to identify the variety if you have a ripe fig and a leaf.

There is always some risk of infection from fecal bacteria. If you suspect that the roots have entered a sewage system then I would recommend avoiding the fruit. This is just a precaution to be on the safe side.
