We have a small ornamental cherry tree which has suffered the same problem last Spring and again this Spring. The flowers and leaves on a middle section of each branch are dead, looking brown, dry and shrivelled. The section of the branches nearest the trunk looks fine as does the outer half of the branches. It is just the section about 15" long, starting about 12" away from the trunk that looks dead. The tree is in a sheltered place so shouldn't suffer from weather conditions. Soil is fairly dry. Have you any idea what is wrong and how we can treat it?
Cherry Trees can fall to several different diseases.
Cherry Eutypa dieback, Brown Rot and Black Knot.

Newly planted cherry tree's (4/5 weeks) leaves are turning brown & dropping. Similar tree planted at same time 4 M away appears healthy. Is this tree in trouble? Solution if any?
Make sure you have planted your tree in a full sun with well draining soil location.
Watering daily for the first 2 weeks then you can start to cut back.
Hardwood much can help with moisture retention.
Check the soil moisture levels.

I have a cherry tree with cherries on it right now May, 28th. I would like to try growing one from the pit. In the article on this page, it sounds like I should go through the procedure of making the pit ready to plant and plant it soon. On other sites I have read that it is best to plant them in the fall. Which is correct and if I wait to fall how do I keep the pits until then, dried in a bag or in the refrigerator?

How do I prevent early fruit drop, and cherry's too soft too soon? I have sprayed Neem oil twice this season after the petal fall. There is no sign of a bug infestation right now, but have some brown spots on leaves, and some leaves have sign of being eaten, since there are holes in them.

Can dwarf tart cherry trees be grown in large pots or raised beds, possibly? All 4 of my trees grown in the same area began to bud, flower and set fruit but are now dead or dying. I'm thinking the ground stays too wet or drains poorly. my only healthy cherry tree was grown from a pit, 7 yrs old, flowers but doesn't produce cherries. exasperated.
If there is a problem with over watering the trees will die. You can grow fruit trees in air pots and they will do very well. Look up aero pots on YouTube to see what they are. You can make your own cheaper also. The tree will not get root bound either. My trees are in these pots and are watered from below to soak up just what they need. Good luck!
I have discovered tiny white worms in my cherries this year. They are ruining almost my entire crop this year. I live in Southern Oregon in the Rogue Valley. Any ideas on what they are and a cure before next season?
