My Wisteria has produced something which looks like a broad bean. Can you advise what this is please?

I have it planted at an arbor and it has filled that up and is growing about 3 ft above it. I have considered cutting back at the main stems - will it send out new shoots that I can train on the arbor by attaching them and then keep pruning so I have just these shoots instead of hundreds?
This is a common concern with wisteria. Here are the instructions. It can be pruned in winter and summer - about 2 months after blooming.

Newly planted rest of vines growing other flowers coming but the first bloom is now going yellow?
If it is newly planted, then you will expect a recovery period. You may not see good flowering until next year ,or the year after. This article will help you to care for the plant: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/vines/wisteria/growing-wisteria-proper-wisteria-vine-care.htm
My wisteria has come up from its roots now 2 years but never blooms. How can I get it to bloom. I live in zone 3 Joyce
I'm afraid it will take much longer than two years to see blooms from this plant. They are very inconsistent flowers. I can recommend an article that will help you to care for the plant and ensure that when it is able that it blooms. My 8 y/o wisteria has luxurious foliage and growth with southern exposure. It has NEVER bloomed!! Other than the often offered advice to be patient, are there any other thoughts? As signs of my desperation, I'm 1)considering hiring a retired shaman to reprise a centuries old tribal incantation complete with a sweat hut, peyote and other hallucinogens, 2)trying a poultice of eye of newt, Budweiser, and kale, and 3)as a last resort, human sacrifice. It seems that you have been given the only advice available. These can be very unpredictable when flowering, and sometimes will not flower in one's lifetime. They are very long lived, and take a very long time to mature.
If you are completely certain that it is old enough to flower, then you can begin checking off environmental factors. This article will help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/vines/wisteria/wisteria-blooming-problems.htm
It is really overgrown . Could that be the problem?
The most common reason for wisteria not blooming is too much nitrogen in the soil. Here are tips to get wisteria to bloom and also how to prune an overgrown vine.
