I have a trumpet vine that has been in the ground for about four years. It was supposed to have large golden yellow flowers. It is planted in full sun. It has never had more than about three or four blossoms in the four years. What is wrong?
It can take up to 10 years for a vine to bloom.

My trumpet plant has been in the ground for about 4 months and only has leaves at the top. Some of the leaves turn yellow and fall off and I don't see any new growth coming out from anywhere. What is wrong?
This is more than likely a pH issue! The plant doesn't seem to have nutrients available to it, and instead of thinking the ground is infertile, I am likely to believe that the pH is off. This would make it very difficult for the plants to take up nutrients. there is a very easy fix for this. Dolomitic lime will do three things.
1. Supplies extra calcium.
2. Supplies extra magnesium.
3. Regulates pH, and keeps it stable.
Add this, and your plant should be back to normal in no time.
We have a trumpet vine that is about 20 years old and appears to be dying this year after having a great proliferation of flowers the vine at the base is bare with only a little green and flowers at the very end. Is this vine at the end of its life?
There are 2 "trumpet vines". One is Campsis radicans, trumpet creeper, and the other is honeysuckle trumpet vine, Lonicera sempervirens. Please edit or repost with the type you have.
I have 3 trumpet vines and not one of them will bloom. They creep like crazy. They are in mostly sunny areas. South west with just a little bit of shade. Would you give me some clues how to get them to bloom.
I have the same issue. I read online that they do not produce flowers until the third season. Mine are 2 years old, I'm waiting anxiously. Signing up for notifications on this one.
We have had an orange flowering trumpet vine for about six years. This is the first year it has produced long seed pods. Can the seed pods be dried and separate the seeds to plant new plants? Are there any special cares to be taken? Thank you for your time.

I live near Chicago, should I cut back the plant and cover it for the winter? Thanks!
Hello,
Thank you for sending us your gardening question. The time for cutting back trumpet vine is late fall to early winter. Since you are in zone 5, trumpet vine is hardy to your area, and there is no need to cover it for winter.
