I live near Chicago, should I cut back the plant and cover it for the winter? Thanks!

Hello,

Thank you for sending us your gardening question. The time for cutting back trumpet vine is late fall to early winter. Since you are in zone 5, trumpet vine is hardy to your area, and there is no need to cover it for winter.
