I received this plant a year ago for Mother's day and it was in bloom then, but even though it is growing well, it hasn't bloomed since. How do I get it to bloom again?
Schefflera are generally grown as a green plant indoors. It would be very unusual to see any flower form on a plant.
Only in an outdoor growing situation may you see a Schefflera bloom.

Do the new cuttings need to go into a plant pot and then into a container? Or can they go straight into a container as they grow quite high and would this be more stable?
Here is a link that will help you with propagating your plant.

My schefflera is very tall. It is now reaching my ceiling and needs to be cut back. How do I do this? It's about 9 foot tall and approx 30 years old. I don't want to kill it!! Lol
Pruning a Schefflera is easy, just trim back to the size you are wanting.
Your plant is quite leggy, though so you can only trim back to sets of leaves.
Propagating your cuttings is a way to save a plant that may be to large for the home.

I got this plant 20 years ago. A few years back I had to travel and left it with a friend. I've returned and visited my friend and was shocked seeing my poor plant. It looked almost dead! 4 ft tall and a handful of skinny, pitiful leaves. The soil was so dry it was almost rock... I retrieved it from her. It was still in the same pot, and I'm guessing the same soil. I pulled it out of the pot to change the soil and found a root longer than my picnic table! What do I do? I didn't know if I could cut the root so I loosened the roots, removed the old soil and re-potted it with fresh soil. He looks so much better! Now he's top heavy and leggy, but the leaves have grown back and seems healthy enough for me to cut away. Can I cut the root? If so, how would I go about doing something like that? The main (longest) root is about 2 inches in diameter.
You can prune back the plant to a more manageable size.
You also can prune the roots back.
Pruning is quite simple, just cut the plant back to the size you prefer.

My 10 year old large Schefflera, which used to be so gorgeous, has dropped all its leaves - has new growth at the bottom of its stem - and 'spoke' like 'branches' where the large leaves dried and dropped off. The stem is now brown in the middle. Two new sets of leaves have sprouted at the top, but they have not matured, and are now wilting, and this in the last two months. A person with a green thumb recommends creating two plants from this one by cutting the top part off, at a 'bend' in the stem, and planting that. And cutting away the brown part of the stem. Your thoughts, please.
I would try to determine why the plant suddenly dropped all it's leaves before pruning up the plant.
Did the growing conditions change?
Proper light and watering conditions?
Signs of insects or fungus?

I live in Florida and have variegated schefflera trees planted in my front yard. What type of fertilizer do I need to use to keep the yellow in the leaves?
Fertilize your outdoor Schefflera plant with a 3-1-2 ratio fertilizer according to the package directions.
Fertilize once in spring, summer and fall.
My plant had a bad case of root rot so I cleaned and clipped the roots and repotted and cut all the branches and leaves that were dead. Well, my question is, will the plant bounce back?
If you still had viable roots, your plant can certainly recover.
Take care to not have to large of a pot and well draining potting mix.
