Our red maple tree is about 3-4 feet from our patio and 12 feet from our house. Do we need to worry about the roots invading our pipes and house foundation?
You may be right in concerns about a Red Maple planted near a home or foundation.
Do you know the variety you planted? Some can grow as high as 70 feet with a spread of 30 to 50 feet.
I am listed a great link with some general information.

The bark is peeling off my red maples' tree trunks and the trunks are splitting open. What is causing this and what can I do to keep them from further damage and dying?
Here is an article (PDF) from Cornell University on "Bark splitting on trees" with management strategies:
As the article will discuss, your tree probably experienced damage during the hard cold winter months.
I have a red maple in front of my house. On the lawn and in the mulch around the tree, there appear to be leaves, and many of them; however, when I knelt down to pick up these leaves, they were attached to the soil and when pulled up they have roots. Are these baby trees? If so, may I please have tips on how to grow them? Right now I have about 10 of these in a glass with water.
Here is an article that will give you tips on how to care for your seedlings. Refer to the section 'Planting and Caring for Maple Trees'.

thank you very much =)
I have red maple trees with no leaves on them. How long will it take to have leaves? I planted red maple 1 week ago and have no leaves on them yet.
With bare root tree plantings, it can take a few months (or more) for them to leaf out. So all I can prescribe at this time is a little patience!
The leaves on our red acer/maple are shriveling up. It has been planted in the ground from a pot after 7 years. What can we do to resolve this problem? It is in the southwest corner of a south-facing garden.
Watering is most likely the issue.
Daily watering is very important for the newly planted tree.

I have red leaf maple trees that are young with small trunks about 3 inches in diameter. The problem is that they're top heavy and causing the trees to bend. Should we cut the tops out or should we stake them?
Do not cut the top off of your trees.
Staking would be the best approach.
