What insect did you treat the plant for? What percentage of the plant has not so pretty leaves? What is the nature of the damage? If the leaves simply have holes, but, still have plenty of green, you can remove a few but I would leave the majority of them on so you don't deprive your plant of energy. Yellow or dead leaves, however, can be removed.

Certainly sounds like a fungal issue. In your area it likely gets pretty hot and humid, which is favorable to fungal growth, especially if plants are grown close to one another. I recommend cleaning any fallen foliage away from the base of the plants and prune a bit to allow for good air movement. Keeping the ground surface clean and a bit dry will go a long way to clearing up black spot problems. You can also spray the plants and ground around them with Mancozeb, which works great on black spot. Neem oil is another effective treatment for black spot problems.

Feed it with a slow-release, balanced fertilizer (8-8-8) and one that is aimed at acid-loving plants. Fertilize once in spring and once in early fall.

You can treat the plant with neem oil, which is an effective insecticide for many pests that find their way in the garden. Here is more information: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/problems/pests/neem-oil-uses.htm
