Hi I have had this orchid for ten months now and this is the third bloom. I have not changed how I have looked after it for the whole 10 months however in the last two weeks two of the leaves have developed black tips and yellowing around them as shown in the picture. All other leaves are fine. Any ideas on what’s wrong and what I should do?
Yes. This is starting to become nutrient deficient. It is necessary to fertilize these at least once a month with a half strength orchid fertilizer. I like to fertilize mine weekly with a very weak fertilizer with each watering. What should I use to get rid of mealy bugs on orchids?
First you will want to scrape off as many as possible. Then you can, simply, spray with Neem oil in warm water. This Will keep them from going near the plant. What causes the roots that grow over the pot to die and can you cut them off?
The "air roots" of orchids can die if the humidity is too low- using a humidifier might help. Or they might die if the plant no longer needs them. If your orchid has plenty of other roots, then it's surely fine, but if most of its roots are dying, there's likely a problem.
You can prune off roots that are totally dead and dried out:

There are many things you can do in the situation. I like neem oil for most pest applications. Just make sure not to apply in direct sun or bright light. There are many good ways to prevent this problem, though. This link will take you to a collection of articles that will help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/special/organic/
One of my orchid stalks broke off, can i save the stalk? Will it try to reroot?
You can put it into some orchid mix. Put a few drops of honey and a crushed aspirin tab in warm water and mix. Let this cool and water the cutting with it. This will force it to sprout roots. You will need to be patient as this can take awhile.
