There are aphids and ants on Japanese dwarf and red sunset maple. Is there any home treatment that will work to control these white spots on bark? I have pets and don't want to use harsh chemicals but I'm afraid the problem is just getting worse.
Neem Oil is a great treatment for Aphids and most pests.
Neem Oil is organic and safe for people, pets and Bees.

I live in Philadelphia. The city planted a tree on my lawn about 4 years ago. I am not sure what type of tree but I have pictures attached. A loss of leaves and some leaves are showing signs of infestation (although I do not see aphids or other insects) or lacing. Not sure if disease or infestation. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Regina Amato regamato@comcast.net

Many pests and insects are difficult to see with the naked eye.
Look of holes or chew marks in the leaves.
Yellowing or curling of leaves can be indicators of water stress or pests.
I would notify the city of your concerns on the tree health. Trees are an investment and they will likely want to take actions on the care of the tree.
You can also check with your local County Extension Office on the tree identification and the signs of stress your tree is experiencing.

I wanna plant flowers but have such a bad spider problem around the house that the only way I keep them away is killing the grass around the house. What flowers or plants do spiders avoid? PS. They are all ground spiders that crawl up the outside of the house.

The info I read on your site is great! I have a huge problem though. The pot I am dealing with is HUGE! I can't easily move it at all, let alone move it outside. Is there any other way? I read ants don't like peppermint and other mint. Maybe I could spray some mixed with water into the soil. Will that hurt the plant?

Can you use canola oil instead of vegetable oil?
We have about a dozen rose bushes and this is the second year now that these little inch type green worms have eaten the leaves on the bushes. They "lay" tiny pepper-flake size "seeds" on the leaves and they turn into these green worms that eat the entire leaf - leaving just the stem! My husband checks every morning for the little worms and gets rid of them - also knocks the tiny seed-like things off the leaves. It is very discouraging and we recently bought a bottle of insecticidal soap and sprayed the bushes but it doesn't seem to work on them! Please help! Thanking you in advance for any information you have to get rid of these things once and for all! Barbara Wilson
Here is a link to an article about those nasty rose slugs for you as well: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/flowers/roses/rose-slugs.htm
It sounds like you have rose slugs. I would spray all of the rosebushes down well with a product called Bayer Advanced Complete Insecticide. That should knock them down and out. You can also give all the rosebushes a treatment of Bayer Tree and Shrub Granules. This product has a feed in it to keep the rosebushes strong and a systemic that moves up through the roots and into the roses natural juices and gets after the slugs in that way. Remember to water your rosebushes well the day or night prior to any insecticide or fungicide applications.
Can you use vinegar to get rid of grasshoppers in your garden?
