How to get rid of ants in pots

The info I read on your site is great! I have a huge problem though. The pot I am dealing with is HUGE! I can’t easily move it at all, let alone move it outside. Is there any other way? I read ants don’t like peppermint and other mint. Maybe I could spray some mixed with water into the soil. Will that hurt the plant?
