My front lawn becomes infested with Red ants every summer. They make little piles of soil so when i mow over them they just become a mess of soil. Ive never been able to have a decent lawn. I live in a small cul de sac and i dont know any of my neighbours who have this problem, All Ive been able to do is pour boiling water over the ant piles.
Do you keep the lawn watered? Ants tend to build in dry sites. These articles should help:

I have attempted to have a fall garden for the past two seasons and it failed beautifully! Pest/insects destroyed everything I planted. I only use Neem oil or a diluted Dawn solution in my garden. Any tips?
I wouldn't use Dawn if you are making insecticidal soap. (Use one without a degreaser.) It's also recommended to buy insecticidal soap for a safer product instead of making it. Homemade ones are more likely to burn the plant.

Neem oil, like insecticidal soap, has to be reapplied. Make sure you are following label instructions and are spraying the top and the underside of leaves.

Here is comprehensive info on controlling bugs. If you decide to go with more potent pesticides, applying in early morning or late evening will avoid most pollinators.

sted & I don’t think grubs are eating my hollyhock leaves & leaving behind strange copper/orange growths (for lack of a better w ord).. I am determined to win this fight, with your all of your help & knowledge, of course! Any ideas are better than none :-) I gave up on hollyhock seeds, haven’t had any success in the past. So this year I planted a hollyhock plants, it was doing beautifully, enormous , healthy green leaves. Then one day I noticed that almost all of the more mature leaves were covered in this copper/orangish (matter of sorts). The pics below don’t do it justice - I’ve cut off all the infected leaves a couple weeks ago, but new holes & hard globs keep on coming.. I took these pics today & caught this guy munching, but what is it?
It is hard to say which species, but it is a type of caterpillar. They can be quite destructive. Neem oil is a good way to get rid of them, but bad infestations can require other methods.
bacillus thuringiensis or BTK is one of my favorite methods. This microbe is good at getting rod of caterpillars while being harmless to you or your plants.

I think the photo in your link is the Chinese invasive mantis species. I recently found one and my friend told me to destroy it. I did not want to, but I googled preying mantis egg sacks and the one you pictured, that I have, is detrimental to the native mantis that we have in our area. https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/garden-how-to/beneficial/praying-mantis-egg-sac-info.htm https://www.brandywine.org/conservancy/blog/invasive-mantis-species
It is. What you can do is to destroy its egg sacks before they emerge. This, paired with having reptiles or larger birds like chickens, can reduce the invasive population quite well.
I have some rentokil wasp powder that was opened and used I couple of years ago and I kept what was unused. So will the remaining amount still work ? Second question is how should I dispose of unused wasp killer that contains permethrin.
It will be best to look on the container, since the manufacturer will have a specific date. This can be a guideline for a rough estimate of how long it will be effective.
As far as disposing of permethrin- Check the label or packaging of the spray for any specific disposal instructions provided by the manufacturer. They may have specific guidelines for proper disposal. If there are no specific instructions, you can dispose of the spray can in your regular household trash. Make sure the can is completely empty before disposing of it. Spray it in a well ventilated area, like outside, then it will be safe to dispose of the empty can.
When should I reseed the bare spots
Yes, it is recommended to scrape off the dead grass and reseed. The timing depends on which grass you choose.

Getting rid of them is best done, naturally. Neem Oil, milky spore, and beneficial nematodes are helpful. There are chemical options too.
