Q.Invasive Preying Mantis Species

Zone 28711 | sbroughton335@gmail.com added on September 17, 2023 | Answered

I think the photo in your link is the Chinese invasive mantis species. I recently found one and my friend told me to destroy it. I did not want to, but I googled preying mantis egg sacks and the one you pictured, that I have, is detrimental to the native mantis that we have in our area. https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/garden-how-to/beneficial/praying-mantis-egg-sac-info.htm https://www.brandywine.org/conservancy/blog/invasive-mantis-species

It is. What you can do is to destroy its egg sacks before they emerge. This, paired with having reptiles or larger birds like chickens, can reduce the invasive population quite well.
