    It is not "normal" but it frequently happens. The only thing you can do is stake them up. It just means that the blooms were simply too full.

    Hyacinth can sometimes be difficult to get to bloom from year to year. Try adding some bone meal to their soil to add phosphorous, which they need for blooming and make sure that their leaves are left on until they turn yellow as this is how they get energy to bloom for next year.

    Compost worked into the soil works well for onions. I would also recommend working phosphorous into the soil. That helps with root growth.
