Q.Hyacinth Transplanting

Anonymous added on April 18, 2011 | Answered

I purchased a potted Hyacinth and it has finished blooming. Can the bulbs be transplanted outdoors if I dry them out first? I have had very good luck with planting purchased bulbs outdoors but have never tried transplanting one. Most information I have read says to discard the bulbs if they are potted due to forcing them to bloom.

You can transplant them out, but they will need additional water to keep the blooms healthy for this year. If you are looking to transplant spent forced hyacinths to the garden, this article will help:
