I live in the Pacific Northwest and I want to have a couple of gardenia plants How hard is it to grow gardenia plants and any tips that can make it less stressful
They are pretty particular, even in the South where they are native. Growing them in your area will be quite irritating, but not impossible.

This is the fourth plant we have had that appears to be dying. The other 3 were in a location that stayed damp. I have tried adding coffee grounds to the soil around this plant, which seemed to help for awhile. Any suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks
You are not alone. This plant is the frustration of many gardeners! The only way to make the finicky plant happy is to provide the exact conditions that it needs.

I planted them both, one on each side of the garage door, one is flourishing and the other one looks sickly. There are some yellow leaves and it is thin. I have looked it up and tried everything suggested. The other one is beautiful, full, green and lots of flowers.
Gardenia can be finicky!

About three days ago, while watering my gorgeous gardenia, to my horror I saw that every leaf "cluster" at the top ends of each branch were completely draped in what I can only describe as a very, very thin web. They have shrouded each limb, and, hopefully as you can see from the two attached photos, they are rapidly killing every leaf. Please tell me that you know the problem and that there some spray or powder I can rush out, buy then apply? Again... HELP!
Uh-oh. Spider Mites.
Had this been caught much earlier at the first sign of leaf spotting, it could be saved.
Once it gets to this point. the plant is likely to die. These mites carry plant pathogens and on top of the mites, the plant is likely to be infected, too.
I will include some of our articles to help, but at this point it is going to be like an ant battling an entire gang of bears.

My gardenia is in my garden as memory of my brother Ross who loved this plant and its flowers

I just checked my gardenias bushes (3) last week. One all of a sudden one has brown spots all over the leaves. It had looked so healthy except for a little powdery mildew that I treated. We were just allowed to start watering twice a week (I watered on Thursday an Saturday, today is Tuesday) so it shouldn't have been over watered. What did I do? Is there anything I can do? Should I worry about my other two bushes?
It looks as though your plant may have a fungus. You may want to treat it and its neighbors with neem oil. Here's a helpful article:

My Gardenia started turning yellow with prominent being on the leaves. I fed it an acid fertilizer. It didn't help; now the edges of the leaves look burnt. It looks like it is dying
Unfortunately, your photo did not come through. I am unable to assess the damage. In the meantime, this article will help you to grow these picky plants:
