Currently my ficus is in a southern facing window receiving direct sunlight (obviously filtered through glass), and it's doing well. See pic. When it warms up, probably not till at least late May, I'd like to put the tree outside. Since it receives full light, will its leaves turn white or is it already acclimated enough? My other option would be to put it on the back deck, on the north side of the house. However, there are tall trees about 30 feet away and the house on the other side, so that would definitely be very indirect light. Much less than it gets inside currently. What would be best for my tree? Thank you.
I would say your best scenario would be the one in which the ficus benjamina was placed in as high a light situation as possible without being in too much direct sunlight. If you give it too much direct sunlight the leaves will turn white with sunburn. Ficus leaves are sensitive to being moved and to light changes so you might see some leaves drop once it has been relocated. Just keep a good eye on it.

Noticed one leaf completely folded and closed. I cut it off and looked inside the leaf (see pic) and there are some black spots. Nothing moving so I don't think they're bugs and they appear to be embedded in the leaf. What is this? And if it's a concern, what should I use to fix the problem? It was just one leaf. The rest of the tree has over 100 new leaves that have come out with in the last week alone. Thanks!
This could possibly be the start of a thrip infestation on your ficus. Leaf curling and discoloration can be caused by the feeding damage caused by thrips. I would consider using a mild insecticide, like neem oil.

I had my ficus tree outside for some fresh air and sunshine and we got an unexpected arctic blast. I think it is dead...all the leaves fell off. What should I do ? Should I prune it? How can I tell if there is any hope?
How long ago did this happen? The best thing you can do is bring it back inside and wait for signs of recovery. You can tell if there is any hope by conducting a "scratch test," which is where you scratch the stems to check for life underneath (look for green parts). If you don't see any green, then the prognosis for your ficus, sad to say, is not good. If new growth emerges, which hopefully it will, keep it properly watered and fertilized.

See photo, how long should I let the roots grow before putting this cutting in soil? It's been in water for about a month and a half so far. Small white specks were all that happened for a while. However, in the last week this one root has grown. It's about 1/4" long now. Thank you! This site is very helpful.
Usually 2 to 3 weeks of root growth should be more sufficient to sustain a new cutting,
Looks like from your picture your off to a good start. When doing cuttings in the future I would try for 2 leaves.

Great job!
We are glad your enjoying all the great information on our site.
I have had my ficus tree about 10 years. It loses leaves in the winter. It sets near french doors but not real close to doors. But I have noticed it looks really light in the body of tree. It has a lot of leaves near 3-4 inches from the ends but the middle is very branchy. All you see is branches. It is a wide tree but is not sure with leaves. I have looked very well and see no insects and my leaves are dark green no spots, white leaves. Any suggestions?
A 10 year old ficus! Wow, that's impressive!
I think your ficus may need just a new pot, and some new potting soil added to the pot. Don't go to much larger, just 1to 2 inches larger.
Then care for your plant as you have been.

Had it in water for about a month and a half. I don't want to put it in soil too early, but I also don't want to wait too long. Any recommendations? Also, FYI, I was told always to take cuttings with two leaves. I have 4 cuttings growing, 3 have one leaf and are doing well; however, the one with two leaves is starting to turn yellow for some reason.
It does appear your cutting is doing well and you certainly can go ahead and get it started in a good potting mix.
Not every cutting will be successful. Great job!

Can I put my Ficus outside for the summer?
Certainly, so long as the temperature consistently remains above 50 degrees.
