How does milk affect plant growth?
Adding a little milk will not do any harm. In fact, it may even help the plant grow faster, since it's a useful fertilizer. However, using too much milk is not a good idea since the bacteria in it will spoil in the soil and result in a foul odor and wilty, poor growth.
What happens if I add eggshells (calcium)? We are doing a science experiment on plant growth in a cup. We are using calcium with brown and white eggshells, and one of our cups has no calcium in it. Which one will grow the fastest?
It is difficult to say which will grow the fastest...that's the point of experimenting. While crushed eggshells are great for the soil, however, it usually takes some time for them to break down. Therefore, you may not see results right away as you might with other calcium mediums.

I need to know how to make blood meal at home because we slaughter hens and goats at home. Can we use the blood of those animals to make blood meal?
Blood meal, which is essentially dried blood, is used often in the garden as a fertilizer that add nitrogen to the soil (https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/garden-how-to/soil-fertilizers/blood-meal-fertilizer.htm), so using it is helpful in the garden).
There is one thing to consider though. With blood meal, you can have issues with animals being attracted by the scent and rooting around where the blood meal is spread. With undried blood, as you would have from the hens and goats, this issue will be even more likely as it will have a stronger scent.
I just movedĀ and somehow lost the label and need to be sure I use the appropriate amount. Thank you in advance.

Which fertilizer is most effective to feed in ground and potted flowers. My neighbors disagree on the kind mixed with water versus the kind that is spread over the soil and is slow release granules. The liquid is Miracle Grow and the dry granules is Osmocote. So far I have been reluctant to use either one but the advertising showing the results is starting to tempt me.
Either one is fine, though the difference is more in how quickly it feeds the plants. Liquid fertilizer is faster than granule types, though slow-release fertilizer is probably the best option for most plants. Compost is another alternative.
How, and how often should I fertilize my vegetable garden if I'm watering with a soaker.
Most fertilizer is applied at the time of planting and additional applications are dependent on the types of vegetables grown. Normally, a top dressing of compost will be sufficient once during the growing season and reapplied only as needed. What is super phosphate used for and where can it be obtained? Is it the same thing as tri-sodium phosphate that can be bought at the home store?
Superphosphate is used for adding nitrogen to the soil. It is not the same as tri-sodium phosphate. Whether it will be available from your local home store is not certain. Some areas of the country carry it while others do not. I am not certain why.
