I planted a mini eggplant instead of a regular size. How big do they actually grow before I pick them? Right now they are about 1.5 inches and I don't know if they should be picked. Kind of small to do anything with.
I discovered a pest I had never seen before on my eggplant this morning. It does not fit the description of any pests I have found at wesites. It is a larva-like thing - a short fat worm, greyish in color - that was eating my eggplant leaves. When I picked it off, it rolled itself into a ball. The shell was pretty hard but a lot of juice when I squished it.
Is this the bug in question?:

If so, it is "false potato bug larva".
My one eggplant should be producing large black/purple eggplant. They started out yellow from the beginning. I've not had one purple or black eggplant from this plant all season. Are the yellow ones safe to eat?? My plant is covered with them and they are good size.
Here is an article that will explain why eggplants turn yellow:

Happy gardening!
I have eggplants that have curled leaves and other leaves are withered and they die. What is the problem?
They are probably infected with wilt. disease, which may be fungal (Fusarium or Verticillium wilts) or bacterial. All of these will affect any plant in the nightshade family, which includes tomatoes, peppers and eggplants. Here is more information: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/disease/controlling-fusarium-wilt.htm

Generally, there is no cure once your plants become affected with wilt. In most cases the infected plants should be disposed of and the beds solarized to prevent future issues.
My eggplant produces flowers but instead of producing fruit, the flower and stems fall off. I have it in miracle gro soil. My tomatoes are about 6 ft tall and have made one flower but no tomatoes.
It is most likely a pollination issue. The plant will discard any flowers that are not pollinated. Has it been very humid where you live? This would do it. Most of the country has been suffering from extreme heat and humidity this season.

Why did my purple producing eggplant start producing yellow eggplant?
This article should help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/vegetables/eggplant/eggplants-turning-yellow.htm
I am growing four Eggplant plants, 3 are producing yellow eggplants while one is producing purple. The yellow doesn't seem to get very big before they start to split and rot. Any help??
Your Eggplant likely are splitting open due to being overripe.
