I got some Crocosmia bulbs to be planted which I did. There is an animal during the night that digs the bulbs up and eats them. What can I put down to discourage this animal? Can I sprinkle pepper on the ground or something else that will discourage it from digging up and nibbling the bulbs.
You can try cayenne or hotter, since black pepper will not be effective.
There are many ways to keep animals out of the garden, though. This collection of articles will help:

General info from good sources on internet tell me to plant Crocosmia in full to partial sun. The Scarlet Red Crocosmia bulb pkg you sent me tells me to plant them in "Full Shade, Part Sun." Who is correct?
We didn't send you the corms, as we don't sell any plants or merchandise, so you might recheck that. However, I can tell you from experience, if you plant crocosmia in shade, it will tend to flop over. Full to part sun is best. Since you live in the north, full sun is best for you.

The plants are about 8 inches tall but show no signs of buds, etc. Can't remember if I planted it last fall or this spring. Think it was last fall.
This, usually, has much to do with the type of nutrients present in soil. Many times, this means that there is too much nitrogen and not enough phosphorus and potassium.

Can crocosmia be grown from seeds? I gathered seeds in September, planted them in a pot on our balcony, and now have five seedlings about 3 inches tall. They have the characteristic sword-like leaf. Thanks. Elaine Riehm
Yes, they are quite easy to grow from seed. They may not resemble the parents in any way, but they will grow from seed.

e ,i see no signs of any flowering .Any advice ? .c
These are very hungry plants, so if they don't get fed, often, then you will want to do so.
This article will offer more information on the care of the plant:

than others. thank you for your help.
The only thing I could find about size is that the corms are graded for size, the larger being the healthier ones. I don't know that you can tell color by size. Some of the cultivars have larger flowers than others. Lucifer is the most popular cultivar.

I planted my bulbs about 2 1/2 months ago and there is still no sign there is life under the soil? When should I see them growing?
This depends on the soil conditions. It can take a few weeks, or it can take several months.
