Can I grow potatoes during winter months in buckets ? Outside or in unheated greehousee
You can definitely grow potatoes in container. If you area gets cool, though, then I would recommend doing so indoors, or when the weather remains warm. This article will guide you on how to grow potatoes in container: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/vegetables/potato/container-potatoes.htm
Potatoes in a bag. Can you still add soil and get more spuds if the plant has flowered?
Yes, it will continue to produce until it has died from either heat or cold, despite flowering.

I started to grow potatoes in bags and the leaves are turning yellow and the stems are dying. They haven’t flowered yet and I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. They have been growing for about 2 months and are only a foot high from the soil. How can I save them??
This is probably a calcium or magnesium deficiency. Grown in container, this is common for potatoes. Just use a handful DOLOMITIC LIME. This contains calcium and magnesium and will correct the issue. I would amend with compost also, since potatoes can feed quite vigorously.
Potato flowering is not important. It will not affect your crop, and will not grant you seeds in your area, since they won't have long enough to form fully. Flowering will be of little concern.

Hi. I have a problem with my potatos .Leaves are turning yellow and brown , some black. Growing in bags on patio. I would be grateful for any advice. If a disease will it spread to other veg?
It is very hard to tell from the photo, but it looks like a spider mite infestation paired with a bacterial infection from the wounds.

I have two bags. I have followed all directions, and they were leafing up. I covered the new leaves with soil, etc. However, a few weeks ago no stems were showing. I have continued to water. Should I assume failure? Thanks for any help you can give.
I think the new leaflets need to be only lightly covered with a mixture of compost and soil. Is it possible they've been over-watered? You also may want to pull one up and inspect it for problems, although growing them in a bag should have kept them safe from such things. It also may just be a matter of patiently waiting. and now they have grown leafy stalks that are up to a foot tall. I am gardening by the moon according to the Farmer's Almanac, but when the guy from my local extension office came out to my house yesterday, he told me that I should have harvested my potatoes by now according to zone 8b and that the planting guide that I have been following is probably for a different time zone. And here in Texas, we've had so much rain over the past 3 months that some of my veggie seeds/seedlings have started to rot. He also mentioned that Fall planting for zone 8b is in August. I am clearly confused to find out that I have been using the wrong planting guide.
