Q.As A New Gardener, I Planted Early Maturing Potatoes In A 20″ Wide Container On 4/30, But Haven’t Done Anything With Them Since
and now they have grown leafy stalks that are up to a foot tall. I am gardening by the moon according to the Farmer’s Almanac, but when the guy from my local extension office came out to my house yesterday, he told me that I should have harvested my potatoes by now according to zone 8b and that the planting guide that I have been following is probably for a different time zone. And here in Texas, we’ve had so much rain over the past 3 months that some of my veggie seeds/seedlings have started to rot. He also mentioned that Fall planting for zone 8b is in August. I am clearly confused to find out that I have been using the wrong planting guide.
