Q.My bagged potatoes have stopped growing

Zone 02140 | Anonymous added on July 17, 2020 | Answered

I have two bags. I have followed all directions, and they were leafing up. I covered the new leaves with soil, etc. However, a few weeks ago no stems were showing. I have continued to water. Should I assume failure?
Thanks for any help you can give.

I think the new leaflets need to be only lightly covered with a mixture of compost and soil. Is it possible they've been over-watered? You also may want to pull one up and inspect it for problems, although growing them in a bag should have kept them safe from such things. It also may just be a matter of patiently waiting.
