How low a temperature can my coleus tolerate in Michigan? Temps dropping tonight. Planted coleus about 10 days ago, looking pretty healthy. However, temperatures are predicted to drop tonight. I'm very concerned. Do I need to cover them?
Subjecting coleus to temperatures below 50 degrees is not advisable - so I would definitely cover them.

I have a lot of shade in my garden. One would think coleus plants are the answer to add some color. I planted an outdoor pot on Saturday and by the following Tuesday I had huge holes in the leaves, especially the top. I even sprayed the plants with insecticide before I planted them. The spray should have taken care of several different kind of bugs. Any ideas?
This time of year the insects are invading our gardens, it's frustrating!
You can try Neem Oil.
Coleus does grow quickly so hopefully you can pinch back the damaged leaves and enjoy new healthy leaves full of color.

How do I pinch back a coleus plant to prevent it from growing taller and to make it grow fuller? Thank you.
Hi. It is actually very easy to do and those type of plant are easy because they are softer. Certain plants have more of an apical dominance incentive, (like poinsettias) so once you remove the hormone that induces apical dominance from the top of the plant, that plant will shift the growth outward instead of upwards. Just use your first two and pinch the top off at about 1-2 weeks after planting depending on size of plant. Usually it is beat to pinch them early so they will push out more rapidly. Hope this helps.

I have grown a coleus plant indoors for the past few months and it has now become quite big. I wanted to know what to do next. Shall I buy an even bigger pot or plant outside? The small purple petals also fall off and make quite a mess.
You can plant it outdoors, though it would need to be overwintered. Here is more information: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/foliage/coleus/coleus-plant-care.htm

I have seen a small green spider and a beetle type bug but nothing more. I sprayed with a solution of Dawn dish soap and water and it helped but I need a more permanent solution. Any ideas for pesticide? Thanks!
Neem Oil is a good treatment.

Does coleus come back the next year, if planted outside?
No, these plants are annuals. You can bring coleus indoors for overwintering (treating like a houseplant) but many people simply choose to take cuttings and keep them over winter instead to keep them for planting next season. My Coleus are red and about a metre high. They are starting to droop. If I cut them back, will they regrow?
Coleus are quite fast growing and you can pinch back the plants to keep them from becoming to leggy.
