Will trimming top of tree allow sun to ripen fruit underneath?
You can prune it in summer but it is important to wait till all the fruit is off the tree or you could damage the health of the tree. Here is more info:

I live here in Santa Cruz, CA and my apricot tree is having problems. Maybe you can help me. It seems that some of the new growth is dying off and little sap balls are starting to form. I had some brown rot last year and sprayed the tree three separate times with a product called Liqui-cop before and growth showed. Can you help? here are a couple of pictures. Any advice would be helpful.

I have a 5 or 6 year old apricot tree. It had a good bloom this year, but now sections of the tree are dying off. There are also areas where the bark is splitting on the branches. See attached pictures. Thanks for your help. Ken Hubert
I think there are separate issues, here. One seems to be Phytopthora. Treatment is quite difficult, but not impossible. Here is an article that will help:

I see signs of black knot, as well. This article will help:

Hello, this spring 2021, during blooming time, both my apricot and S. Rosa plum tree dropped all the blossoms. I took some pictures of the flowers and i suspect that there was a bug infestation that eat/destroyed the blossoms. Blossom seem to be either partially eaten by a bug or are are completely detached leaving only the stem. Do you have any idea of what was the cause and the possible remedy I need to take for next year crop? Thanks for your recommendations Paolo
The first thing to do will be to make sure that the cultivars that you have chosen are able to fruit in your area. Many cultivars of Apricot and Plum will require a certain number of chill hours in the 40's F. In your area, it can be tricky to find cultivars that will fruit reliably and have a low chill requirement.
Next to check will be the feed that you are using. Fertilizers that are high in Nitrogen will lead to bloom drop, when it is time for flowering. Higher numbers of Phosphorus and Potassium will help with bloom and fruit production.

I started 3 apricot trees from peats(seeds) 6 years ago, now they are healthy 8'tall, lots of flowers early spring but no fruit on one, and very few on the other do they need to be grafted? Would it help producing fruits if I fertilize I noticed that there were no honey bees around to pollinate, could it be the problem ?

My husband pruned the tree and in the fall we had beautiful blossom's looked like the beginnings of friut. The temps dropped slightly and it looks like all the fruit that was forming all dropped off and 12 inches of the branch died off? What do I do to get fruit?
