Young Apricot tree,in its 1st year, planted in a very large wooden planter. Not produced any leaves, buds are dead and fall off, cobwebs between some branches and dark orange sap or gum? oozing from some branches on trunk. Tree is not thriving though is green on main trunk if you scratch small patch. Soil is sodden, possibly from over watering?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated Many Thanks
I suspect a number of issues- Spider mites, overwatering, and fungal infection from both seem likely. With something this severe, recovery is not likely. Should you choose to attempt correction, these articles will offer some help:

ng branches? Do I wait until Fall? The tree is about 4 years old.
Heavy pruning should be done during dormancy, but if these broken branches are causing problems then they can be removed now as long as it is not hot.
Here is an article that will help you to prune the tree:

do this? The tree is 4 years old since I bought it. First year no fruit second year tons of fruit last year no fruit this year looks like we will have 5. I bought mason bees when it bloomed and a house for them.
The suckers are likely growing from the root stock and should be removed to avoid root stock take over.
Continue to cut them back as you see them grow back.
It is not unusual for a tree to produce more fruit one year, then have a year that you have less.

With apricots, it seems like it's inevitably going to be aphids that cause leaves to curl. They're very tiny and live on the underside of the leaves. You may want to try the remedies in this article: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/pests/insects/homemade-aphid-control.htm
If you've examined the leaves and find that this isn't the case, you may want to consult an arborist or your local extension service: http://cesantacruz.ucanr.edu/

This is the first year that we have gotten apricots on our tree. The fruit is small and does not want to ripen completely. When I try to peel one open it is just a ball of juice. There is not firmness. Help!
