My apricot tree is dying. ok last year except one trunk died after blooming & leafing. This year only two branches bloomed, leafed & the leaves are beginning to die. A few large apricots still green. 2/3 of tree is dead. Unsure of what's going on. Help.
You will need to do a bit more inspecting of the tree. Check the leaves and trunk for signs of disease or pests.

The tag says to get another variety apricot tree to make sure they are pollinated, but I don't have that kind of room. Will a lone tree still thrive?
It will thrive just fine. It will not likely ever give you any fruit, though.
The apricot skin is better, but the flesh is sweet. Can I do anything about it ?
If you mean bitter, then this is how they are. There will be nothing to be done to correct it.

It has been untended for several years, can a tree just go wild and not need to produce fruit? I have trimmed the very highest shoots, and had several blossoms, and they have fruited, but never matured. Any hints would be helpful.
There can be a few reasons for lack of fruit.

My fruit is showing a problem. Can you help With diagnosis and treatment. First year with fruit in three years.
Unfortunately, this is a Fungal Brown Rot. There is not much that can be done, and treatment is very difficult once contracted. This article will help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/fruits/apricots/diseases-of-apricots.htm
Young peach trees, 2-5 years old, have died for no obvious reason. They have produced good fruit and then just died, at different times of the season. Recently I noticed slimy gunk at the base of two trees that died. It is very gooey but crusty on the outside, dark rust colored. What could this be?
This sounds an awful lot like Peach Short Life Disease. It will destroy a tree down to the root level.
