My wisteria is in the garden not against a wall and here in the Charente we had a late frost last week and it has damaged the wisteria which was in full bloom. What should I do ? Help please
Wait until any other damage of frost has passed. You can then cut back the damaged areas to one healthy leaf node past the damage.
You can also just leave the damaged areas, especially if this is a mature Wisteria. New growth should quickly cover the damaged areas.
If flowers were completely damaged, they should drop on their own.
After the flowers fall off and you have the stem remaining do you cut that off or leave it on?
You should cut this season’s shoots to about three buds from the base -- but you could actually cut it back even more, it's really hard to kill Wisteria!

We have an established Wisteria, approx 6 years old.... 4 main trunks of 1-2 inches diameter......all flowering lovely this spring 'except one' !......it seems completly dead ! flowers tried to bloom but failed, other 3 branches completly normal with lovely blooms, how can this be ? I have looked for wisteria scale and brown scale = no trace........ Should we saw off this trunk incase it spreads to other branches ? What can we look for to rectify this problem ? Thank you so much for any help Regards Mary Goggin
