New branches have appeared beside the main stem of our fairly new wisteria. But they come from below soil level. Should they be removed?
Suckers should be removed, but you can propagate these shoots for new plants.

Can you please show me what a bloom looks like just before it starts to flower? We have some long thin spikes, which I think are the blooms forming. My husband begs to differ. World War Three is about to erupt because he is refusing to plant the two plants I bought, if they are not going to flower. Thank you.
Here is a link that has a good image of the budding stage of Wisteria.

I hope that there is peace!
When is the best time to plant a wisteria vine? Fall, spring or anytime?
My otherwise healthy young wisteria has yellow spots on lower, older leaves which is spreading. Is it root rot or something else? Looks like fungus. How should I treat it, please? Thanks so much.
There can be a few reasons for the yellowing leaves. Watering issues; to much or to little.
Insects or fungus and even nutrient issues.
I do see mottling in the coloring of the leaves which does appear to be Tobacco Leaf Mosaic Virus.
You can try applications of a fungicide.

My wisteria is a new plant about 6" tall. I have a fence of 18" encircling it. I have collected some of my fallen leaves and put them in the fence. I have it completely covered. Can I leave it covered or should I leave it exposed some? We have some -temps here in zone 3 mid state Colorado. Thanks for any advice, Don
This article will help you with this task.

How deep do Wisteria roots get? Can they get into sewer lines? We had ours blocked with roots of some kind.
Though there are some differences in how aggressive American or Chinese Wisteria, you are still dealing with an aggressive vine. The root system is just as aggressive as the top of the plant.
Do not plant near wells, foundations and septic systems.
I have just moved into an old house which has a very mature wisteria growing on the front. Although it looks beautiful when it's flowering, I am worried about any potential damage that it might be causing to our property and wondered whether we should remove it. We looked around the house in the summer, and it was gorgeous when flowering. However, it's very overgrown because it has not been looked after. It is starting to grow in through windows, gutter etc. Would you recommend removal or just cutting right back? Many thanks, Laura.
Wisteria can be pruned back quite a bit (hard pruning) if it has become overgrown, and this will bring it back to a healthy size. There's no need to remove the plant as long as you are willing to maintain it by pruning as described in these articles:
