Canker are usually caused by disease. These articles will help:

Can anybody please identify this tree? It is in my sons front garden & he needs advice on pruning, feeding etc. Thank you.
Looks like a weeping ornamental cherry. I would allow it to weep - not cut it straight as shown in the picture. If you need the branches to be higher, i.e. in order to mow under it, perhaps pruning it up higher so that the new branches don't grow so far down. Wherever you cut, normally one or two new branches will grow. Prune after it goes dormant (leaves fall).
Usually, the tree does not need to have as much sun exposure in the winter, since it will be in a dormant state. It will be fine, as long as it gets plenty of sun, otherwise.

We had an arborist plant our Weeping Cherry Snow Fountain in 2018. Now all the leaves are curling on it and it doesn't look like it's doing good. I'll attach a picture. Thank you
There are quite a few things that can cause these symptoms, unfortunately. Check, first, for black aphids. They can roll leaves up for nests. It seems a little widespread to be this, but this could still be the issue.
Next, you will want to ensure that the tree gets sufficient water. Watering deeply, then letting the soil dry down to about 5 or 6 inches before watering again will be ideal.
There are a handful of infections that can cause this, as well. Fungicides will treat most of them, but if symptoms do not subside, then other factors are more likely.
Proper care, systemic pest control, and preventative fungicide treatments will rule out those possibilities. Proper soil pH and nutrient content will cross out most environmental issues.

ng some of your responses how do I treat it for bacteria or fungal diseases
Unfortunately, your photo did not come through.
Typically, treatment of Cherry trees when using heavier copper fungicides consists of a winter treatment. This is best done when dormant.
You can try organic remedies, to treat for fungal infections at any time.

If this was due to a Summer planting, which should not be done, then there may or may not be a way to save the tree. This article will help you with transplant shock:

I sprayed with insecticidal soap.
It sounds like the tree may have a fungus, but you didn't say whether the curling leaves are becoming discolored or falling off.
I'm including links to two articles that should help you identify the problem:

If this info doesn't match up with the symptoms you're seeing, I would take some samples to your local garden nursery or extension service agent for further help.
My ornamental weeping cherry tree is full of dead branches & the roots are really exposed from all the downpours we had his summer. Now the bark is curling & sap is oozing out of exposed roots. I really checked it & saw no bugs. Yesterday I noticed the exposed roots were splitting open so used bug spray & all these really skinny brown worms came out!! help
It could be wood borers. You do need to prune out the dead wood. These articles should help.
