How much soil does a tomato need if it is growing in a 2 square feet container?
The answer depends on what type of tomato you are growing. A large indeterminate tomato needs about 10 gallons of soil. A cherry tomato can grow in 5 gallons.
It seems that it is taking longer for my tomatoes to ripen than in years past, despite weather conditions. They flower and fruit as usual, but remain green until well into September. This did not happen in years past when I started gardening. It happens in hot summers, cool or rainy summers as well.
Tomatoes actually ripen with heat and ethylene gas. These articles will help you. You an also ripen the tomatoes off the vine.

What would be requirements to grow tomatoes in a old bathtub?
I would make sure that it is steel or ceramic, and not copper, or aluminum. Then you will want to make sure that the drain functions as you will want plenty of drainage. You can fill the tub with potting soil, or a mix of topsoil, compost and any other amendments that you would like. Hey, I am a beginner when it comes to planting stuff so I want to ask if I can grow vegetables like tomatoes and peppers while using compost as the only source of nutrients for the plants, without using synthetic fertilizers. I mean, will my plants suffer deficiencies, or is it okay ?
I had a neighbor who had good results with a mixture of 50% compost, 50% topsoil. Too much organic matter can cause problems, however. Compost doesn't have all the nutrients your plants need, especially nitrogen. Good afternoon. I have quite a few Orchids that I have converted from bark medium to semi-hydroponics. They are thriving! There is so much new root growth along with new leaves. For years now I have grown my tomatoes in pots, outdoors, in Miracle Grow soil. If you are familiar with semi-hydroponics as a growing medium, do you believe that tomatoes would do well in it? Thank you, in advance, for your help.

There are yellow tiny spots as well as bigger lesions and black areas on the leaves of my tomato plant. It is being grown in a container in a west facing balcony.
This appears to be a mild fungal infection. With some treatment, this will be gone quite easily.
The next time that you water, mix 1/4 peroxide to 3/4 water, and water this in. Do this once, and then once more after a week. This will kill off the infection. Old leaves will not recover, but it will stop the spread.
To prevent this in the future, make sure to only water once the top 2 or 3 inches is completely dry if there are drainage holes to allow water out.
If there are no drainage holes, then you will have to weigh the pot completely dry, and fully saturated. Only water once it gets close to completely dry.
