Why is my sweet potato plant getting soft? I planted a sweet potato, it sprouted nicely and has long roots. However, the potato is now soft in some places. Is it still good, or is it going to rot? Should I throw it out and start over. Please advise. Thanks, Berta Reed
Don't throw it out if the new growth is healthy -- this is exactly what you want! The originally planted potato is likely transitioning all of its nutrients to the plant, and it's not a problem that it is changing consistency. You won't harvest that one. It will remain the "mother plant" for the sweet potato vines. With continued proper care, you'll have sweet potatoes to eat and even maybe enough to put up for winter! The new leaves on my sweet potato plant are coming out with a rippled texture. Otherwise they are healthy. Is there a natural fix? Th
Check your plants for any signs of pests of disease, these can cause curling or puckering of leaves.
Make sure the watering and sunlight conditions are correct.
Bright sunny location with well draining soil.

After harvesting, what do I do with the vine? Can I plant it to start a new batch or do I re-start the whole process again. I want to have a constant batch of potatoes available.

You can root the slips and continue this process if your weather allows.
Can you tell me what happened to this vine. Its the only one like this. Should I pull it, treat it ,or leave it be.
I noticed my sweet potato vines have flowers on them. Almost like morning glories. Is this normal?
The flowers that are produced on both ornamental and edible sweet potatoes have a trumpet shape and may be pale pink or purple in color. Often the foliage of ornamental varieties hides the flowers behind their large leaves or camouflages the flowers by the bright hues of the leaves drawing the eye from the pale flowers.
What is the best way to plant this for an indoor plant?
