I,'ve had a sweet potato Vineland was growing beautifully. It's about 3 years old and want to know if you have to report it recently is dying off. It's in the house in a sunny location . I take it outside in the summer after no chance of frost What could the problem be?
Yes, your plant is likely needing repotting and new soil.
Many times the tubers will also just become to old to continue growing. Starting new plants from cuttings is also a way to keep your plant going.

Would corn be a good companion in a sweet potatoe bed?
When I've grown sweet potatoes, I found that the underground growth (the roots and the potatoes themselves) as well as the above-ground vines can get pretty extensive. Sweet potatoes would choke out the corn (even though corn has a pretty shallow root system), so I personally wouldn't plant them in between each other. You could certainly plant them next to each other with about 3-4 feet of growing space around the potatoes with no issues. You'll also want some space between the sweet potatoes so that you can harvest them easily.

C. I am having trouble trying to grow sweet potato vines. They are about one third in water with toothpicks holding them up I change the water about every 3 days. They are near a window. Is it possible they are effected by our water softener? Should I use distilled water? Thanks! Hunkydorry
Tubers will not do well in water, you should pot them up or plant them directly into the soil.
You can take cuttings and root them in water.

Mine are overgrown, just want to split them....without killing them. How do I do that
You can divide the sweet potato vine in spring when it has began to produce shoots.
Just dig up the tubers with a trowel. Clean off the tubers with water and lay out on a stack of papers to dry while you work with them. Use a clean knife to divide the tubers making sure each section has at least one eye.
Plant the divided tubers in well worked soil, 2 inches deep.

I've been saving my sweet potato vine tubars from last year (in dark cool place during the Ontario winters). I planted them and they are coming up with a totally different leaf...long and skinny....still lime green. Does anyone know why the leaves have changed?
These are likely just the newer leaves and as they mature they will change shape.
