I had a sweet potato with tons of slips, about fifteen inches long. I planted the entire potato in a container. It looks great, but will it produce since I did not know to do each slip in its own spot? Should I dig up and pull them out of the potato? It has been a week. Help!
I have a friend that had a lime green sweet potato vine last year and this year it's a darker green. Can you tell us why? I think it has something to do with being hybrid.
Yes, seeds from a hybrid plant will likely differ from the parent plant.

When you harvest your potatoes in the fall, how do you preserve viable slips until spring? Thanks.
Just store enough sweet potatoes after harvest to use for your spring planting.
The Sweet Potatoes can be stored in a cool dry location.

Do spv cuttings need leaves to produce roots at nodes? I have one long vine with tip leaves only. Would like to cut into sections.
You need to cut below the node keeping the node intact.
Remove the leaves near the node by gently pinching them off.
Place in jar of water making sure the node is submerged in the water.
Keep in a bright location but away from direct sunlight.
Roots should form in 4 to 6 weeks.

I bought a sweet potato vine at at a local nursery. The vine was bright green so I may be wrong about it being a sweet potato. Now that the plant has died, can the potato be eaten? I don't know if this is a silly question, but was curious. Thank you.
Yes, the tubers are edible, but they may not be as good in taste or texture as tubers that are grown as vegetables.

I was given a potted plant that was described by the giver as a flowering sweet potato vine. It does, indeed, have pretty purple flowers. Is this the same as the sweet potato vine whose care your site described? If so, what kind of light do you suggest? Thank you.
Without a photograph it would be hard for me to definitively say whether or not your plant was one and the same as the one pictured on the website. However, to aid in your identification, I can tell you that the flowers produced on both ornamental and edible sweet potatoes have a trumpet shape and may be pale pink or purple in color.
Sweet potato vines enjoy a bright, sunny location indoors and out.
