Hi! I have a mounted staghorn fern in my apartment, it has lost a couple of leaves over the past few months, and now has a leaf with a black spot. I don’t know what to do! Am I watering too much? Does it need more light? Please help!

Hi I have just been given a huge elkhorn with no mounting board. I am too scared to divide it until we become more familiar with each other. The tips of the upward reaching fern fronds are brown and crispy. I am planning to mount it on a large piece of marine grade ply as tree fern slabs arent available anywhere here. Then I can stand it rather than hang it. The whole base of the fern is approx 20 inches x 22 inches. Should I cut the burnt bits Off? Do you think marine ply with spaghnum in the back is a good idea? I was planning to attach it with galvanised wire tied to galv nails. Does this sound like a good idea?
My research says it's best to leave the dead and damaged basal fronds on the plant to feed the fern as they decompose. It's OK to trim back the damaged parts of the trailing fertile fronds. Here's an article from the University of Florida that provides some details: http://gardeningsolutions.ifas.ufl.edu/plants/ornamentals/staghorn-fern.html
As far as I can tell, your mounting plan sounds fine. Here's a helpful article: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/foliage/staghorn-fern/mounting-staghorn-ferns.htm Gardeningknowhow.com has quite a few articles on elkhorn/staghorn ferns that will help you with growing these unusual plants.
It has been propped in a large pot of soil since I bought it 5 or six years ago. It is in a north facing window and I mist it once a day. There is no insect infestation or spots on the leaves. One of the newer sterile leaves is also folded down in a wilt. Should I take it out of the pot it is in and replant it without soil?
If it has been in soil for that long, it would be a good time to mount it on a board or hang it in a basket with organic media. Perhaps your plant needs some indoor lighting to get it through the winter.

I planted them in sphagnum moss in an orchid box...they actually look worse than the photos...very droopy, wilting and dull...almost a grey green. I have them in a covered area where they get light but not direct sun. Can you please help me.
after a period of time, the roots of these ferns can become dry in the inner root ball, even though it is getting the usual amount of water. You may want to try dipping the root ball into water for a minute, making sure the roots get a good, quick soaking. Another common problem is that they require a lot of light. Perhaps your plant needs some indoor lighting to get it through the winter.

I also have a fig leaf tree I've had for 1 year inside and it us not doing much but the leaves are turning brown what can I do to save it.
The environment will be warm enough, but I would be afraid that the lack of humidity, at times, may not be good for the plant. This article will help you with tips for the best care:

Many figs should be hardy in your area. Planting outside may fair better for the tree, than being inside. Here is an article that will help:
