In a field next to me, I was told is sage. It has a small five petal orange flower with big round seed pods that the birds love. It has a maple-like leaf pattern. It grows wild here in Kingman, Arizona.
I have not been able to locate any wild sage type that meets your description.
I have listed a few link for you that may help you discover the correct species.
I moved a (potted) pineapple sage from my patio deck and placed it in the yard by a pole for it to climb on. Now I see something is chewing it to pieces. I can't see any bugs. Any ideas what and how to get rid of them? Thanks for your help.
It is likely slugs. They come out at night a dine on plants and hide during the day, so you don't see them. This article will help you with dealing with them:

Do you cut down the pineapple-sage bush in the fall? Can you transplant it? When is the best time?
Pineapple Sage will tolerate winter temperatures down to about 20 degrees.
If you live in an area that does not freeze the plant will likely bloom all winter and may even bloom all year long.
You can cut the plant down as needed. Dead head spent blossoms to encourage more blooms.
If you live in an area that drops below 20 degrees your plant will not winter over and is considered an annual.

I'm growing herbs in pots, but should I keep them away from each other? How far away from my sage, dill, thyme, mint, rosemary, chives, and basil? That's all I'm growing so far.
You can plant several different varieties in one large container but be careful not to overcrowd the pot so that each plant has enough space to grow and reach its full potential. For more information, please visit the following links:

I have a sage shrub that needs to be cut back. I'm not sure when the best time of year is to do this.
What type of sage bush do you have? With russian sage, the best time to prune is early spring or fall.

I purchased a clary sage last year not knowing what it was. It has bloomed this year and I am totally in love with the flowers it has produced. I am disappointed that it will probably not be back next year. My question is, how do I get seeds from the plant/flower so I can replant it year? I am somewhat of a newbie at gardening and using seeds.
I agree, a created plant! This info might help you https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/herbs/sage/growing-clary-sage.htm
