How can I start a pussy willow bush from cuttings? My sister gave me some branches and I put them in water but so far no roots.
These plants are extremely easy to root. Stems/branches can be stuck in a vase of water where they will form roots within a few weeks. Once roots appear, they can be placed in pots or planted directly into the ground in spring. Cuttings should be from new growth, at least as thick as a pencil, and a foot or more in length.
Is there a type of pussy willow that is miniature with less invasive roots? I live in a townhouse community with limited space to grow a pussy willow tree and wondered if the was a miniature variety on the market. If so, what is the root spread on this variety? Also, what would be the spread of branches and also the height of this miniature variety? Thanks
I would recommend the KILMARNOCK WEEPING WILLOW. This variety, which is an excellent choice for small gardens, grows up to 8' in height and 6' in width.

why does my pussy willow not produce any catkins? I started the bush from a branch cutting a few years ago. I rooted a cutting from a catkin. It is planted in a wet spot but does not get a whole lot of sun (a full day of sun).
Your Pussy Willow needs part sun to full sun.

I have a pussy willow bush in my yard. It has plenty of branches but it is not producing any catkins. How do I get the bush to produce some fury catkins?
You may have some strangely grafted variety that was never meant to produce catkins, or the tree is extremely old and not producing any longer. The best option you may have is to perform some severe (and I mean severe!) pruning.

I have had a pussy willow tree for 3 years now. I did no trimming last fall and this year there is no growth on it. What should I do?
If you mean there are leaves but no catkins (the furry white fluffs that appear in the spring), that's less of an issue than if there are no leaves whatsoever. It's a bit late in the season to prune it, so you'll have to wait till next year, provided the tree is still alive (if it has leaves then of course it is; if it has no leaves, start with the outermost branches: check to see if they break off easily. Move toward the innermost trunk(s) of the tree to locate any branches that are not brittle and greenish inside) and in an acceptable location. These articles may help you:

My tree is 7 yrs old. I have a lot of dead spots on it. Can I trim it down while the leaves are on it?
Yes, you can. Here's some additional info;
